MOURNING THE LOSS OF CAPTAIN CHAD CATE
CLALLAM COUNTY PROFESSIONAL FIRE FIGHTERS, IAFF LOCAL 2933

CHAD CATE
CAPTAIN

We share significant sadness with our Clallam County Fire 3 community members and the fire service at large, the passing of one of our most beloved members, Chad Cate.

Chad passed away at the station early Thursday, January 12, 2023. His passing was completely unexpected and has stunned his family, friends and brothers and sisters of the IAFF 2933 and his entire Clallam County Fire District 3 family.
Chad began his career as a firefighter in 1997 and has continuously worked to advance our department, our local and his career. Chad spent over 20 years as a paramedic where he had the opportunity to make an impact on countless community members when they called 9-1-1. Chad was promoted to the rank of captain in 2020.

Chad was raised in the area and graduated from Sequim High School where he has continued to be involved as the wrestling coach. Chad leaves behind his wife, Renee, 2 year old son and two adult children.

In cooperation with Chad’s family and IAFF Local 2933, the district is working to prepare a memorial service to honor Chad. Information on the service will be made available to the public in the coming days.
